Ways to Transform Your Outfits with Soul + Wings Hats & Jewellery | London Accessory Week

Updated: Apr 10, 2023

Tell us a little about you and your brand. Who are you, and what products do you design for your brand?

I am originally from Ecuador; however, I began my global journey in 2007, residing in the UK, South Africa, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Chile, and now Canada, which has led to my global perspective on art, style, and the acceptance of all forms of beauty. I began making handmade art five years ago, focusing on classic designs that transcend seasons. I design all our products and personally finish all our hats, including hand painting, and hand make all our jewellery pieces. I have always loved fashion, style, and art, and had the goal of starting my own brand and business. And, during the lockdown, I really focused my time and energy on turning the vision into reality.

Where do you get the inspiration for your designs?

I am continually inspired by artists in a wide variety of mediums, as well as the natural world, and how we interact in it. My opportunity to travel and live internationally has also led to a wealth of cultural exposure that I try to bring to my work, and my desire to reflect limitless art.

Which of your designs is your favourite? Can you tell us the story behind it?

My favourite design, without a doubt, is our Waterfall Wool Hand Painted Hat. It is a versatile piece for anyone, combining multiple layers of beauty through the transformation of landscape and feeling.

How can you describe the target audience for your products?

I see my audience as those with a signature style. Those who want to not only inspire others but who want to express themselves regardless of situation and environment.

Why do you do what you do? What do you like about your job?

I created Soul + Wings as an outlet for my passion for art. What I do gives me unlimited creativity and freedom of expression for my passion. It brings me closer to my own senses as an artist while connecting me to the beauty around me.

What is your prediction on trends for accessories? What style or colour would you recommend for 2022 autumn/winter?

Definitely, AW22 will be characterized by unique one-off or small-batch products, maintaining that collaborative ethos that we’re seeing in many of our favourite brand mash-ups today! There will be no let-up in the pursuit of softness, conscious materials, and textures, presented in an environmentally conscious way. Expect to see the season bursting with ultramarine, magenta, custard, and deep olives.
